Established (75+ Years) Leading Building Materials Company Seeks Automation Engineering Technician in Joplin, MO
Leader in the roofing and building materials industry, is seeking an Automation Engineering Technician to join our team at the Joplin, MO. This role involves PLC and HMI programming, troubleshooting, upgrades, and new code development, as well as providing support for control devices, instrumentation, and electrical systems.

Who You Are:
High school diploma or GED required
Associate degree in a technical field preferred, or at least one year of related experience or training
Experience creating, modifying, and troubleshooting PLC and HMI programs
Familiarity with instrumentation devices, control systems, and continuous production operations
Ability to work overtime as required
Preferred Experience:
Experience commissioning and tuning variable frequency, vector, and servo drives, with integration into PLCs and HMIs
Ability to perform electrical and controls layouts and update/create electrical drawings using CAD or other software
Knowledge of developing preventive maintenance programs in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff
Familiarity with LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) documentation
Responsibilities:
Create, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs to ensure continuous production operations
Mentor instrumentation technicians in the repair, maintenance, and installation of instrumentation devices and control systems
Execute automation/controls work for equipment, instrumentation, HMIs, and PLCs to improve existing processes
Assist in the development of preventive maintenance programs
Analyze operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards
Follow all safety regulations and actively participate in plant safety programs
Test equipment for safety, performance, and efficiency using analytical tools
Perform electrical and controls layouts and update/create electrical drawings using CAD or other software
Commission and tune variable frequency drives, vector drives, and servo drives, and integrate them into PLCs and HMIs
Scope and acquire automation/instrumentation devices for discontinued items
Train on new systems and update LOTO and SOP documentation
