Safety Specialist
Position Overview
The Safety Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs to ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the organization. The role focuses on minimizing risks associated with gas utilities and underground infrastructure while ensuring the health and safety of all employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement health and safety programs in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits related to gas utilities and underground infrastructure.
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics and compliance with safety standards.
- Train employees on safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Conduct investigations for safety incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in the development of safety policies and procedures related to gas leaks and pipeline operations.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote safety awareness and injury prevention initiatives.
- Perform bore inspections and leak surveys as needed to ensure safety and compliance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management or a similar role, preferably in gas utilities or underground infrastructure.
- Certifications in Safety Management, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field a major plus.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards related to gas pipelines and underground utilities.
- Experience in developing and implementing safety programs and training.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify hazards and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
